Nature of Work:

 

The Technology Support Analyst is responsible for providing technical support to users within the Sheriff’s Office and Detention Information Systems that reside on networked computers, laptops, and servers. Work entails installing, configuring, and supporting peripheral hardware and network hardware including servers, switches, desktop computers, laptops, printers/copiers, and structured cabling. The Technology Support Analyst is responsible for administering domains, network user accounts, workstations, workgroups, and network security. Responsibilities also include managing and deploying Microsoft Windows Servers, and servers in a VMware vSphere Virtualized Environment. Work is performed under the supervisor of the Information Technology Manager. 

 

Examples of Work:

  • Troubleshoots PC and networking problems.
  • Logs and processes support calls.
  • Installs and configures computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
  • Plans and undertakes scheduled hardware and software maintenance, patches, and upgrades.
  • Sets up accounts for staff and ensures that they are able to log in.
  • Investigates, diagnose, and solves computer software and hardware faults.
  • Manages and monitors network security.
  • Documents network designs and configurations.
  • Researches networking products and recommend purchases.
  • Recommends networking standards for software, hardware and infrastructure.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of computer, networking, and telecommunications technologies.
  • Must possess problem-solving and basic technical support skills.
  • Ability to evaluate, recommend and install PCs, servers, operating systems, network software, application software, workstations, and communications hardware.
  • Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member to identify requirements, find and evaluate alternatives, present solutions, make recommendations and follow projects through to completion.
  • Ability to take initiative and use creative and innovative thinking to find solutions to business problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

 

Requirements:

  • Requires an associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field and four years of experience in a technical environment.
  • Must have experience with configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of virtual and cloud environments.

 

Preferred:

  • Preferred experience with Windows Server 2008 and higher configuration and administration.
  • Preferred experience with NetApp Storage/Appliances and hosting with VMware.
  • Preferred experience with PowerShell scripting.
  • Preferred experience with Unix/Linx operating systems.
  • Preferred experience with M365 Administration.
  • Preferred experience with SharePoint Administration.
