GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

The purpose of this job is to oversee the programming of the county’s security program and badging related software and systems. This job is performed under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

 

  • Oversee the programming of security programs and badging related software.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections of access control, badging and camera systems. Produces after action reports with recommendations for repair and cost estimates.
  • Handle project oversight of new physical and electronic security system installations.
  • Oversee the assessments for new security systems. Troubleshoots and repairs defective security systems.
  • Lead and oversee the project development team. Writes the statements of work and vendor contracts.
  • Assist with vulnerability and security assessments.
  • Ensure installed systems meet requirements before acceptance.
  • Act as primary back-up to the Security Manager; attends required meetings and writes reports.
  • Oversee the duties and assignments of the Locksmith staff in the absence of the Security Manager.
  • Perform daily checks of the security access control and camera video management software.
  • Perform related tasks as required

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Thorough knowledge of electronic security systems preventative maintenance, installation, troubleshooting intrusion detection, access control, cameras, detection systems.
  • Ability to effectively manage security projects to include needs assessments, systems research and recommendations, cost analysis, statement of work preparation, equipment installation and system acceptance testing.
  • Efficiently prioritize tasks; perform preventative maintenance scheduling.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service and time management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to oversee, lead, and supervise employees.

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Requires an associate degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or Programming with 5 years of related experience, or 5 years of related experience in Electronic Security or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Valid North Carolina's driver's license

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, or skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
