RESPONSIBILITIES:
The purpose of the Child Care Social Work Supervisor is to provide leadership and management to the child care social work staff. The Child Care Social Work Supervisor will provide direct supervisor to staff within the Child Care Subsidy Services team. Analyze and monitor activities and progress as it relates to program goals and to foster good working relationships between Child Care management staff, other public agencies, Child Care Providers and parents/guardians. The Child Care Social Worker Sueprvisor supervises and evaluates the work of assigned Social Workers for the child care unit, effectively recruits, interviews and selects new program staff as needed. Conducts evaluations and annual performance appraisals, conducts team building activities, provides coaching and guidance to enhance the Child Care staff skill set; ensures adequate staff coverage at all times for the Child Care Unit, and utilizes the succesive discipline process as the need arises. This position reviews and recommends unit policies and procedures; is responsible for organization and assignment of the work of the unit, trains and provides technical support to staff, and other tasks related to State and Federal performance measurements. The Child Care Social Worker Supervisor is responsible for participating in and developing community outreach strategies in collaboration with the Program Manager to promote quality child care for Durham County children. The Child Care Social Work Superviosr will collaborate with Quality Assurance and Training staff to identify challenging areas of program performance and implement strategies to improve program performance.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Child Care and/or other eligibility programs within Family Economic Independence Services
- Knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to individual casework, group work, and community problems.
- Considerable knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training.
- Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems.
- Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs.
- Skill in supervising, training, or orienting lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
- Leadership skills, case management, collaboration building experience, skills in crisis situations.
- Ability to integrate, review assessment service plans, positive interaction with the community and other agencies
- Organizational Skills – time management, prioritizing projects and problems
- Planning – developing plans to accomplish work operations and objectives
- Knowledge of NC FAST.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in social work and three years of social work or counseling experience, two of which was in a supervisory capacity; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or a master's degree in a counseling field and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and five years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or graduation from a four-year college or university and six years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field providing experience in techniques of casework, group work, or community organization, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
