RESPONSIBITIES

 

The position is grant funded and will process referrals for the Short-Term Rent, Mortgage, and Utility payments program (STRMU) program, and provide case management for the Tenant- Based Rental Assistance program (TBRA) through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program.  Track all incoming calls from provider agencies to determine appropriateness for services; provide STRMU financial assistance, assistance in finding permanent housing, working with landlords to take housing vouchers, and providing TBRA medical case management services, including monthly home visits, to those individuals meeting the eligibility criteria outlined by HUD.  Provide referrals to other appropriate resources. Participate in Work Groups and Committees.  The Durham County HOPWA program will participate in working groups and Homeless Services committees including Access Network of Care and the Homeless Services Advisory Council.  The Durham County HOPWA program will partner with area providers including the Ryan White HIV/AIDS program, Healing with CAARE, Lincoln Community Health Clinic, Duke Infectious Disease Clinic, UNC Infectious Disease, and Durham Public Health to ensure that clients have an integrated approach to health and housing.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field such as social work, counseling, psychology, special education, deaf education, rehabilitation counseling or marriage and family therapy from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in social work, counseling, preferably with the client population; or bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in counseling or a related human services field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work, or community organization; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
