Responsibilities

 

This position leads and directs the Adult Protective Services (APS) Team to protect elderly and disabled adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Provides leadership, guidance, and oversight of APS Intake, Assessment, Treatment, and After-Hours services ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local policies while promoting the health, safety, and well-being of vulnerable adults.

Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of Adult Protective Services (APS) laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise, coach, and evaluate social work staff, students, and interns effectively.
  • Skilled in crisis intervention, case management, and responding to abuse, neglect, and exploitation cases.
  • Ability to monitor quality, ensure compliance, and implement corrective action to meet state and federal standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, policies, and engaging with staff, clients, and partners.
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills, including time management and prioritization of competing demands.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, interpret regulations, and make sound, data-driven decisions.
  • Skill in building collaborative relationships with community resources, state agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, and protection of sensitive client information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and case management systems to manage data, documentation, and reporting.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Master’s degree in social work from an accredited institution and two (2) years of directly related experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited institution and three (3) years of directly related experience;
  • Master's degree in a human services field from an accredited institution and three (3) years of directly related experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited institution and four (4) years of directly related experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and five (5) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
