General Description:
The work performed is responsible for ensuring an efficient, comprehensive, and fiscally responsible system for the ordering, receiving, preparing, and delivering medical supplies, equipment, pharmaceuticals, narcotics, uniforms, and personal protective equipment used by Durham County Office of Emergency Services (OES). Manages warehouse inventory, DEA and OSHA compliances and reporting as it relates to medications, narcotics, and personal protective equipment for Durham County OES.
This position works under the direction of the Administrative Officer of the Business Operations Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions listed belw are those that represent the majority of time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
• Oversees the warehouse inventory and delivery of all EMS equipment, prescription stock, supplies, narcotics, and uniforms.
• Guides and coordinates, and reviews work of staff; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
• Works in conjunction with the OES Business Services Supervisor and OES Administration to accomplish the Division’s supply chain goals and objectives.
• Receives requests for supplies by email, phone, and in-person; evaluates, develops, and prioritizes assignments for completion during working hours.
• Responsible for ensuring that the products are delivered on time, in good condition, and in a cost-effective manner.
• Creates and updates procedures to predict future requirements for products and supplies.
• Regularly notifies OES Administration on any problems with the provision of medical supplies and drug stock that might affect operations and patient care.
• Develops and maintains dynamic relationships with all relevant parties, including suppliers, logistics staff, OES Administration, and line staff.
• Develops processes that make the supply chain more efficient and organized.
• Responsible for overseeing the inventory management system and acting as the subject matter expert for maintaining and checking supply levels at EMS stations and on EMS vehicles.
• Ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and standards for the purchase, maintenance, and distribution of pharmaceutical materials (including controlled substances) and personal protective equipment.
• Investigates pharmaceutical stocks, personal protection equipment, and modern medical equipment. suggests improvements to the OES Administration.
• Operates delivery truck to transfer products and supplies to designated areas, including loading, and unloading the items at the delivery sites. Assesses stock levels, rotate, and replace as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Fire Science, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Business, Logistics or related field from an appropriately accredited college or university.
• Six (6) months of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Certifications and Licenses:
A valid North Carolina Driver’s License with a three-year acceptable driving record.
Physical Demands:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
• Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations. Also, may include physical work that requires exertion of more than 100 pounds.
