RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Establishes and provides case management to ensure that parents provide financial and medical support for their children; coordinates and conducts genetic testing; utilize administrative and legal action and investigative techniques to establish and enforce court orders; locates non-custodial parents; obtains voluntary support obligations; attends court and monitors court orders; makes collections calls for  payment; reviews cases to determine if modifications and financial audits are warranted; prepares clients for court and testifies as needed. Candidate will have a high volume of contact with customers and a very large caseload.  Must be able to work effectively in a team setting and maintain a cooperative working relationship with team members, community professionals and agency leaders.  Candidate must have the ability to interview and perform mathematical computations.  Legal knowledge, collections experience, strong research, analytical and case management skills are highly preferred. Candidate must possess strong communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively work with a diverse population. Work requires considerable firmness and tact in dealing with the parents of minors.  A high degree of resourcefulness and the ability to interpret and apply a variety of statutes, procedures and regulations is required.  Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through reports, conferences and public reaction.  Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft applications, strong collections background and the automated Child Support system preferred. Candidate must be able to obtain a Notary and Genetic Testing Certification. Work in a Shelter as needed for Disasters.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and absent parents, location resources, offices of the Clerk of Court, Magistrates, District Attorney, Sheriff, other court officials, and private attorneys.

 

  • Thorough knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal procedures.

 

  • Ability to interview clients, absent parents and related sources, and to investigate cases.

 

  • Ability to organize, analyze, and summarize case information.

 

  • Basic math skills.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

A four year degree and six months experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledges, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; or an associates degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related degree and two years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledges, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; or graduation from high school and three years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledges, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

PREFERRED:

 

Strong communication and organizational skills.

 

Ability to effectively work with a diverse population.

 

Legal knowledge, collections experience, strong research, analytical, mathematical and case management skills in child support highly preferred.
