General Description
The purpose of this position is to prepare and check forms, records, reports, applications and other materials for accuracy, completeness, and conformity with established procedures. Application files are created once criminal history checks are completed. Manages the fingerprinting process for the agency including the scheduling and printing of all applicants. Serves as a backup to coworkers conducting transactions with the public at the front desk.
This job is performed under the general supervision of the Records Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives, enters and updates all criminal process documents into the agency’s report management system (RMS).
- Creates and maintains all gun permit applications. This includes address changes and revocations of approved gun permit holders.
- Conducts criminal history checks.
- Manages and maintains the agency’s incident reports, accident reports and citations completed by law enforcement.
- Provides fingerprinting services to the public along with other intergovernmental agencies.
- Serves as a liaison between the public and law enforcement regarding the status of all active warrants issued.
- Completes administrative tasks such as creating files, copying, scanning, emailing and memo writing.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of current federal, state local government statutes pertaining to criminal process and gun laws.
- Demonstrates the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.
- Detail oriented with strong data entry skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma and previous experience working with the public in a forward-facing capacity.
Physical Demands:
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
Position requires the Division of Criminal Information (DCI) Certifications Modules 1-3 within the first year of employment.
