General Description
The purpose of this job is to ensure the distribution and inventory control of the Sheriff’s Office’s equipment, uniforms, and supplies for sworn law enforcement officers, detention services, and civilians.
This position works under General Supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
• Manage and fulfill requests, from SO personnel, for equipment, uniforms, duty gear, and durable/disposable supplies.
• Create requisitions for the purchase of uniforms, gear, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain adequate inventory of supplies to ensure on-demand availability.
• Conduct weekly, monthly, and yearly inventory audits according to best practices and internal procedures and policies.
• Maintain electronic inventory database of supplies and assets.
• Receive, inspect, and deliver uniforms, gear, durable goods, and supplies to appropriate personnel.
• Administer the maintenance of all vehicles assigned to the Sheriff’s Office. Report mission critical maintenance issues to Command Staff.
• Fulfill special requests.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Thorough knowledge of methods, procedures, and objectives of inventory control.
• Thorough knowledge of basic equipment, supplies, uniforms, and related items required by the Sheriff’s Office
• Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of record keeping and database methods and objectives.
• Ability to operate office equipment and job-related software applications.
• Ability to maintain records, logs, and computerized files and databases.
• Ability to communicate effectively and to always maintain a professional demeanor.
• Ability to multitask and to handle interruptions.
• Ability to establish and maintain rapport with vendors.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduate from high school supplemented by two (2) years of experience in customer service, supply management, inventory control or administrative support related to the field; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
• Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
Physical Demands:
Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing, and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50-100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.

• Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
- Bright/dim light, dust, and pollen
- Extreme heat and /or cold; wet or humid conditions
- Extreme noise levels, animals/wildlife
- Vibration; fumes and /or noxious odors
- Traffic; moving machinery.
