RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The work performed includes professional work managing complex construction and renovation projects for Durham County through the various phases of planning, design, construction, occupancy and warranty. 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in engineering design and construction
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal ordinances and regulations and environmental mandates
  • Knowledge of computers and software programs for job costing, drafting, spreadsheets, word processing, scheduling, and estimating
  • Ability to prepare designs, bid documents, specifications, work schedules, plans, maps and reports
  • Ability to conduct engineering research work and write technical reports
  • Ability to use engineering and drafting instruments and tables
  • Ability to provide supervision and guidance to technically and professionally trained subordinates
  • Ability to express ideas effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to organize work and work independently
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contractors and the general public

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or a related field, and three years experience in engineering, architecture or construction project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Professional Engineer and/or AIA registration preferred but not required.

 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

 

Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
