GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 

The purpose of this job is the day to day management of contract compliance for reentry projects. The job focuses around the management and implementation of ex-offender reentry projects. These intervention programs will provide a select group of ex-offenders, a host of interlinking services to reduce the recidivism rate of this group of respondents. Work is performed in collaboration with the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee and the Local Reentry Council.
This position works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

 

• Acts as a liaison to service providers and contractors associated with the project.
• Assists in planning and implementation of grant funds.
• Assists in data collection and analysis for projects and grant reporting.
• Assists in financial reporting, including invoice review, confirmation and payment.
• Prepares and submits reports and memoranda on reentry to the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee.
• Monitors the timely submissions of program deliverables; reviews invoices, receivables and vouchers.
• Coordinates all aspects of Reentry Initiatives.
• Conducts client intake and case management.

• Coordinates and facilitates Local Reentry Council meetings
• Performs related work as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 

  • Thorough knowledge of Durham County and its human services agencies, churches, non-profits and related organizations that provide services to offenders
  • Considerable knowledge of case management principles and practices and their application to offenders
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system in Durham County and of applicable laws and regulations
  • Skilled in establishing rapport with clients and applying case management techniques
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, community leaders, criminal justice officials and service providers
  • Ability to plan and execute meetings and community events
  • Ability to operate computer equipment and generate reports and records
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely orally and in written documents

 
 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration, Sociology, Criminal Justice or related field, supplemented by two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in social work, counseling or program management; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
