GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate services for the Durham Local Reentry Council.  The Local Reentry Council is an organized network of individuals and agencies that provides services for justice involved individuals at the local level through the use of new and existing programs and services. 

This position works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.  This position is also responsible for administrative and clerical support to the pharmacy as well as inventory monitoring and control.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

 

  • Acts as liaison to service providers and associated contracts.
  • Assists in data collection and analysis for projects and grant reporting.
  • Assists in financial reporting, including invoice preparation and submission.
  • Prepares, submits and presents reports to JSD Leadership, Division of Adult Corrections, Local Government, local businesses, various boards or committees regarding initiatives, outcomes and proposals.
  • Creates and submit monthly reports.
  • Monitors the timely submissions of program deliverables; reviews invoices, receivables and vouchers.  
  • Coordinates all aspects of reentry initiatives for the Justice Services Department.
  • Conducts client intakes and provides case management.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Thorough knowledge of Durham County and the resources available to justice involved individuals.  Ability to locate resources and build relationships with providers, churches, non-profits and related organizations.
  • Considerable knowledge of case management principles and practices and their application to justice involved individuals.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system in Durham County and of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Skilled in establishing rapport with clients and applying case management techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various web-based platforms including Zoom, and MS Teams
  • Proficient in the creation of presentations and materials to disseminate information to the community about programs and events.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, community leaders, criminal justice officials and service providers.
  • Ability to plan and execute meetings and community events.
  • Ability to operate computer equipment and generate reports and records.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely orally and in written documents. 
  • Ability to solve problems.

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration, Sociology, Criminal Justice or related field, supplemented by two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in social work, counseling or program management; or possession of any equivalent combination or education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge , skills and abilities.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

 

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting
  • up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
