GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

The purpose of this job is to provide administrative support to the Stadium Manager and the day-to-day operations of the Durham County Memorial Stadium and Facility Use.

This job is performed under regular supervision, performing routine assignments independently.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

 

  • Coordinate and implement duties of assigned events for Durham County Stadium and Facility Use.
  • Complete advance work requests, staffing, timing for events at the facility.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned events; respond to requests, incidents or situations that require decisions from a Durham County representative and administers applicable county and facility policies.
  • Complete pre-event walkthrough of the facility to ensure proper event set-up, check conditions of the venue.
  • Perform post event reporting including inspecting facility for damage, contractor/staffing timekeeping or any subsequent reports by event or stadium procedures.
  • Maintain the stadium’s internet presence including the website, events calendar, social media, and additional partner information requests.
  • Provide administrative support duties including recordkeeping, creation of event information sheets, staffing requests, research of product/industry trends, and responding to community member requests and inquiries.
  • Perform quality control checks of contractors, staff, and the facility.
  • Maintain inventory of facilities event equipment. Assist with coordinating staffing and programming of the stadium’s equipment.
  • Ensure proper operations of stadium’s marquee, sound, scoreboard, delay of game clocks and video systems.
  • Serve as Manager on duty when necessary.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Ability to analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives.
  • General knowledge of sport/event facility operational procedures, capabilities, terminology, and event-related services.
  • Knowledge of Crowd Management, Crowd Control, and customer service practices.
  • Ability to monitor stadium social media channels to generate facility awareness, identify industry trends and interact/respond with users’ message, inquiries, and comments.
  • Familiarity with event specific equipment and requirements for Football, Soccer, Lacrosse and Track and Field.
  • General understanding of Fire and Public Safety Regulations, event contracts and invoicing.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising judgement and initiative while handling multiple tasks.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines; ability to work under pressure with stringent schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, Recreation Tourism, Facility Management, Communication, Business Management, or similar field with 2 years of increasing responsible experience in event management in a stadium, arena, convention center, public assembly facility or parks and recreation setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Requires a North Carolina Fire Marshal Crowd Manager certification within thirty days of hire.
  • Requires CPR certification within 3 months of hire date.
  • Requires a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

  • Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy
