GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this job is to oversee and execute voter outreach programs, website management, social media, and the fulfillment of public records requests. The position will also assist with other Education and Outreach functions as needed by the division.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Responsible for developing and executing the Board of Elections outreach plan to include community events, social media, website maintenance and management, and material development.
- Responsible for recruiting and assigning election workers, processing data transactions, and completing all other functions related to the maintenance of election workers.
- Responsible for the intake and fulfillment of public records requests submitted by individuals along with overall management of the departmental records fulfillment system.
- Conducts outreach events on behalf of the division.
- Creates outreach materials for departmental use.
- Manages social media platforms; manages departmental websites and associative content.
- Creates multifaceted and innovative county wide voter education and outreach programs and materials for citizens of diverse backgrounds that encourage voter participation.
- Develops and executes outreach campaigns on social media, radio, television, newspaper, and other traditional media.
- Collaborates and coordinates election outreach events.
- Creates print and web-based publications for events and the website.
- Performs other administrative tasks as assigned by the Director of Elections or supervisory employee relevant to the work performed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing elections.
- Knowledge of graphic design and instructional design principles (ex. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office Suite).
- Knowledge of public relations principles and practices; special event planning and promotion, and publication design and layout principles.
- Strong understanding of graphic design principles and content development.
- Skilled in how to operate SEIMS (elections database) Access, Word, Excel, Power Point programs and other relevant software specific to the position/divisional unit.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems and other office equipment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires an Associate Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Arts or English, from an appropriately accredited college or university supplemented by 3 years of experience in graphic design, content development and community engagement or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
