GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

Durham County Utilities Division is seeking a detail oriented and motivated individual to fill the position of Project Coordinator.  The position is responsible for compliance and administration of the Utilities Division’s safety programs. The incumbent in this position will use the OSHA laws, regulations, and policies to make decisions.  

 

Work is performed under the supervision of the Deputy Director of EES/POTW Director

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Administering the safety program by completing safety inspections;
  • Reviewing, updating and developing written safety programs and procedures;
  • Coordinating and conducting safety training;
  • Obtaining quotes and drafting bid documents pertaining to safety equipment and/or training;
  • Schedule safety contractors as needed;
  • Complete safety reports, including the annual Tier II report;
  • Assist Durham County Risk Management in the development and implementation of county-wide safety programs and policies affecting the Utilities Division;
  • Administer the on-line safety training and record keeping;
  • Conduct audits at all facilities under the Division;
  • Prepare reports; perform related duties as required. 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Thorough knowledge of methods, practices, techniques and terminology of engineering, architecture, and construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction materials, engineering plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Thorough knowledge of building regulations, standards, and related codes.
  • Ability to prepare bid documents.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in physical sciences, engineering, planning, architecture or related field.

 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:


Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) credential
