RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Direct supervision of social workers who manage blended cases to include in-home and permanency planning whose primary task is the assess for ongoing safety and wellbeing needs of children involved with child welfare. The daily implementation of this position includes conferences with line staff, group staffing, training, coordinating and delegating responsibilities and duties.  Supervision of staff is done weekly, bi-weekly or monthly as well as conferences during times of crisis.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Must have knowledge of basic supervisory processes, including social work process approach to case consultation, planning, organizing, and directing.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of professional roles, including teaching adults, managing, administrating, and providing services.
  • Complete understanding of normal and abnormal child development which enables the social worker to know when there is a problem requiring intervention.
  • Ability to assess family situations which permits complete understanding of family dynamics and which forms an accurate basis of intervention.
  • Ability to interview all ages successfully which builds therapeutic relationships and obtains information.
  • Knowledge of North Carolina legal system so that the supervisor can apply its precepts.
  • Knowledge of supervisor’s own self so that she/he can separate it from her professionals’ evaluations.
  • Knowledge of social work processes and resources serving children.
  • Knowledge of, and acceptance of, people ability to commit atrocious acts and their ability to change.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience;  or a Master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Requires a valid North Carolina driver’s license with an acceptable three-year driving record and a vehicle.
